Make Hay While the Sun Shines

Weather records are being broken here in western Montana, and the trend isn’t anything we hope for to sustain a long and healthy fishing season. Hot temps, low precipitation, long periods of no rain, and low stream flows are all setting up one crazy summer. You can read more about the current weather trends here in an article by Martin Kidston for the Missoulian. With the weather the way it’s going, its time to get out on the river now while you still can find great fishing. You’ve got to make hay while the sun shines, as they say. The weather predicted this week and beyond is only getting hotter, so we’ll see what that means for fishing but currently things are great on all of our rivers, so make some time to get out there and visit with the fish, and wave your magic rain-making rod at the sky for us.

Rivers may be lower than usual for this time of year, but the bugs are out and fish are willing.
