Fishing has been good around here these days, and over the hill on the Missouri the midges are keeping people happy too. The (early) hype around here is all about skwalas, and a few folks have had success on top in the right moments. Underneath is still the name of the game most days. But the dry fly fishing is picking up in earnest on the lower sections of the Missouri. Midges are about, and that can make for some real fun. March is always a good time to head to the Mo, or hit the rivers close by in the middle of the week for some solitude on the water. Success on the river in March takes some work, and a little flexibility. Worms and rubberlegs one hour, streamer the next, maybe a dry or two if you’re feeling frisky. Either way, March ain’t too bad. Here’s to a month of mixed results and a throwback Thursday of early March on the Missouri without another boat in sight. Rare times afforded by the right March morning.
