February Grizzly Hackle Fly Tying Nights

The Grizzly Hackle is keeping the fly tying community in Missoula pretty happy this winter, and dragging them out of the basements, spare rooms and cubby holes yet again with a couple more fly tying nights for February. These are an awesome time, with free pizza and beer and giveaways for great prizes every time. Free lessons on beginner patterns, and an expert table that has been spinning out some big streamers and more. Lots of fun. On top of that, the Hackle staff is working tirelessly at getting the latest materials in stock, and they have what you need. Their new tying section is coming along nicely, and with weekly orders coming in, let them know what you need and they’ll get it in fast. Your guide tying just got a whole lot easier. No more crumpled lists of materials you won’t find at the store. They got it. February’s tying nights are the 9th, and the 2rd, always at 6:30 PM. See you there.

The shop has plenty of new materials in for you to grab up and toss on a hook, and you might just find that Christmas gift you’ve been looking for. Come on down and join in, whether you’ve been tying for years or just starting out there is a place at the table for you.

Tying season is on, and getting together with other fly tiers to pass along skills and see what people are tying up for next season is always a good idea. The Grizzly Hackle fly shop is making it an even better one with free beer from Big Sky Brewing and 94.9 KYSS FM. November 17th from 6:30-8:30 pm. Whether you’re just getting started tying, or want to show off your articulated war beast pike fly, this is the place for you. If you don’t tie, head down and see what all the fuss is about and talk fishing with some like-minded dirtbags. The first tying night was a great time, and there’s more bugs on the menu tonight. Make your way down there and get spinning!

Fly Tying With Addie

Grizzly Hackle’s first Fly Tying Night went great, with some of Missoula’s top tiers and some newbies all coming together to get the vises out and have some fun. Eight year-old Ayden wanted to come along to the event, and so we packed up the Frozen tote bag with a few supplies and had a blast. As always the guys at the Grizzly Hackle made sure everyone was having a good time and came away with some new skills. There were steelhead flies coming off of Denny’s vise, Lukas taught the experts how to tie some articulated monsters, and I saw some very respectable san juan worms from the beginners that will surely catch fish. For her part, Addie tied some wool head sculpins and some pink worms for the guys and she can’t wait to head down there next week for more. If you missed the event tonight, you really should try to come out to the next one and get in on the action. There is plenty of materials on hand and tools for those who are curious, and if you’re an old pro we’d love to see what you’re spinning up these days. Beer, pizza, and bugs – what could be better? The next Grizzly Hackle Tying Night is November 17th at 6:30 pm! We’ll see you there!
